Crits

A few bits of advice for the upcoming Crits….

Always introduce yourself; the visiting tutors will not know who you are. There is nothing worse than getting a few minutes into the crit and having a tutor burst out with “excuse me, who are you?”

Always introduce the project, especially those early on in the session. Presume the visiting tutors know nothing about the project. This means getting back to basics, until you have introduced the site location, do not assume they know where it is! Be prepared to talk about the site history and significant location and the future for both the local and wider area.

Never say that you did something because Ed/Patrick/Rob/Tim etc… told you to do it!

Have an idea where the project is going and be prepared to discuss what you are going to do next. If you don’t know what you are going to do next don’t expect to be told.

The better prepared you are for the crits, the more you will get out of them.

Remember that after the crits and last tutorials session before Christmas, you are going to have some time away from the university. You need to have focus and direction for this time, as it is a good time to move the project forward but you will not have assistance from Ed/Patrick/Tim etc… That’s right; you are expected to work over Christmas!

Bring everything that you have done this year.

Enjoy yourself.
